Terms of Service

⚠️ Important medical disclaimer — please read

WeatherOrNot is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a substitute for professional healthcare. The risk scores, sensitivity percentages, personal multipliers, and all other outputs of this application are informational estimates only, derived from self-reported data and publicly available weather information.

Do not use WeatherOrNot to make clinical decisions, adjust medications, or replace consultation with a qualified healthcare provider. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health professional with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.

The Provider Report feature is intended as a personal health tracking summary to facilitate conversations with your care team — it is not a clinical record, medical assessment, or diagnostic report.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using WeatherOrNot ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Description of the service

WeatherOrNot is a personal health tracking application that correlates self-reported symptom scores with local weather conditions to help individuals identify personal weather sensitivity patterns. The Service includes:

  • A public weather risk tool (no account required)
  • A symptom logging and personal profile system (free account required)
  • Advanced correlation analysis, travel planning, and provider report generation (premium subscription)

The Service is provided "as is" and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time with reasonable notice.

3. Your data and consent

By using the symptom logging features, you consent to:

  • Storage of health-related self-reports: Your symptom scores, tags, notes, and associated weather data are stored on our servers as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Correlation analysis: Your stored data is used to compute a personal weather sensitivity profile as described in the Methodology. This analysis runs only against your own data and is not pooled with other users.
  • Location data (optional): If you provide location when logging, your coordinates are used to fetch weather conditions and stored alongside your rating. Location is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.
  • Provider reports (opt-in): If you generate a shareable report link or email export, you are choosing to share that information with a recipient of your choosing. You can revoke shared links at any time.

You retain full ownership of your data. You can export it as a CSV or delete it permanently at any time. See the Privacy Policy for details.

4. Accuracy and limitations of outputs

WeatherOrNot makes no representations or warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any risk scores, correlation percentages, personal multipliers, or other computed outputs. Specifically:

  • Outputs are statistical estimates, not medical measurements. They reflect patterns in your self-reported history and should be treated as exploratory rather than confirmatory.
  • Correlation does not imply causation. A high weather sensitivity percentage does not prove that weather causes your symptoms.
  • Weather data may be imprecise. Weather readings from Open-Meteo are based on grid-based models and may not exactly reflect hyperlocal conditions at your precise location.
  • Small samples are unreliable. Sensitivity profiles with fewer than 50 ratings should be treated as directional only. See the Methodology for data quality stage definitions.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to submit false or deliberately misleading data that could corrupt your own or others' profiles
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate access to the Service beyond normal use
  • Share account credentials or allow others to access your account
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to circumvent cooldown limits or other data integrity measures

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. Premium subscription

Premium features are available via a paid subscription managed through Apple's App Store (StoreKit) and RevenueCat. By subscribing, you also agree to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.

  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings
  • Refunds are handled by Apple according to their standard refund policy
  • Your data remains accessible if you cancel premium. Logging, history, and sensitivity overview remain available on the free tier. Premium analytical features (correlation analysis, travel planning, provider reports) require an active subscription.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, WeatherOrNot and its operators shall not be liable for:

  • Any health outcomes, medical decisions, or clinical actions taken based on information from the Service
  • Inaccuracies in weather data supplied by third-party providers (Open-Meteo, AviationStack)
  • Data loss due to technical failures, provided reasonable backups and security measures were in place
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service

Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.

8. Intellectual property

The WeatherOrNot application, brand, and underlying software are the property of WeatherOrNot and its operators. You retain full ownership of all data you input into the Service.

The correlation methodology described at /methodology is published openly for transparency and verification. You are welcome to reproduce the mathematical approach for personal research or clinical review with attribution.

9. Third-party services

The Service integrates with the following third-party providers. Your use of the Service is also subject to their respective terms:

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in Texas.
